AGW Electrical help's with local community project - 31 Oct 2011
In the Photo, Mark Wistow of Camden Electrical Wholesalers, Mayor of Sandwell Mrs Joyce Underhill and Wayne Bailey of AGW Electrical (Services) Ltd.
AGW Electrical (Services) Ltd volunteered an electrician for a couple of days and our local electrical wholesaler Camden Electrical Wholesalers provided the materials needed Free of charge to help get this community project up and running.
Wayne Barratt of W.Barratt contractors Ltd has organised the necessary trades to help out with this project in West Bromwich where we are helping to put together a donated building at the rear of Chapter House, who provide accommodation for vulnerable young adults aged 18plus. It is hoped that this building will be used to get the local community together and provide computers and give people somewhere to go that might need space for recreation. Or to gain an advantage if they were looking for employment. All materials and labour have been donated and staff and residents have given a helping hand which has been going on for a few months now but has included lots of work not just the modular building itself but the groundwork’s and landscaping involved.Information on the Black Country Constructing Excellence club can be found at www.blackcountryceclub.co.uk
And here are the early project details from the start of this great input to the community.

AGW light's up with £25'000 investment! - 27 Jan 2011
An electrical company based in Smethwick has received £25,000 of funding to help the business expand. AGW Electrical (Services) received the funding from Black Country Reinvestment Society (BCRS), which offers companies in the region loans of up to £50,000.
AGW provides electrical inspection, installation and maintenance to clients including food retailers Subway and Greggs, and the University of Birmingham.
The company, which was founded 11 years ago, borrowed £25,000 from BCRS through the Sandwell Business Loan Fund to aid its cashflow. The £750,000 fund offers loans of between £10,000 and £50,000 and is available until 2012. Sandwell-based businesses which are having difficulty accessing finance are eligible for the funding.
Co-founder and director of AGW, Adrian Watton, said, “Business was slow between March 2009 and June 2010. We decided to be proactive and took on marketing manager Wayne Bailey in 2009 to generate new business. We also re-branded at the same time. It’s really helped.
“When the work starts to pick up, it’s vital to have the cash to service the order. The recession of the previous 18 months had drained our cash reserves. We negotiated with our wholesalers to give us longer payment terms, but it’s paying for skilled labour that’s the problem – you need money in the bank to pay salaries.
“We employ ten people, and have sub contractors as direct labour when we need them. BCRS turned the loan around very quickly, which enabled us to keep going.”

NICEIC approved contractor's logo - 05 May 2010
Contractors are being taken to court for using the NICEIC logo illegally trying to fool the public into thinking they are approved contractors, please ask to see some documentation when appointing an electrician:
“NICEIC has seen a rapid rise in the numbers of bogus tradesmen attempting to use the logo to their economic advantage. In response, NICEIC has made it clear that it will do all it can to prevent this happening in order to protect consumers and support contractors who undergo voluntarily assessment and notify their work where appropriate”.
AGW would just like the opportunity to show that we are proud to be associated with the NICEIC and this link is us on their website to show that we are registered and approved.
